Biorb.ca is an online store shipping unique aquariums and accessories across Canada. The project included building a stylish Shopify website and SEO to gain top Google rankings.
Challenges
Business owner Jane was selling a range of unique Biorb acrylic aquariums in her Nova Scotia hot tub store. They were popular in-store and therefore she wanted to sell them online too through the hot tub website, but that presented a couple of problems.
Firstly, customers might find it confusing to see a range of products that had nothing to do with hot tubs or spa supplies on her main website. Secondly it would be hard to achieve decent Google ranking for Biorbs, since the main website was (in Google's eyes) about hot tubs and not about aquariums.
We made the decision to build a separate Shopify site for Biorbs and, after getting permission from the manufacturer, registered the domain name biorb.ca.

- Inventory tracking to ensure sure products show as sold-out when unavailable in a particular color
- Aquarium products have product images that change as users select colours
- Shipping is via Canada Post with rates calculated in real-time at checkout
- Product prices were adjusted to enable free shipping to match online competitors

Within 12 months biorb.ca was ranking #1 in search for most keywords, and visitors had grown to over 2,000 per month. Jane now sells twice as many Biorbs online as she does in-store.
