iKustom is an innovative company selling custom doors & panels for IKEA kitchens, allowing people to create a custom look for less. The project involved building a multi-step order process in Shopify.
Challenges
iKustom was spending a lot of time preparing quotes for custom kitchen doors and panels, which was time wasted when customers didn't order. They wanted to enable customers to get an instant quote and order online instead. Some of the challenges included:
- Each product was available in different styles, finishes, colours, heights and widths; leading to a large number of product variants and a complex order process
- For custom colour choices customers needed to provide paint brands and colour codes
- Customers needed to be led through the product pages in the correct sequence to ensure they included everything
Project Features
- Requiring customers to first choose door styles, finish and colours
- Disabling the Add-to-cart buttons until all required selections had been made
- Showing custom fields for paint brands and colour codes conditionally based on product choices
- A step-by-step sequence of product pages for choosing doors, drawer fronts, and panels; that changed based on customer's style choices
- An "intelligent" progress bar that adapted to customer's selections and allowed them to navigate back and forth
- Customising the mega-menu to include product images
